Victims shot and killed on Detroit's west side identified

DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

Two families are grieving after the bodies of two victims - a young man and woman - were found in the street Sunday morning on Detroit's west side. Both were shot and killed.

The male victim, James Smith, is believed to be 18-20 years old, the female, Jade Wilson, is about the same age or slightly older.

Detroit Police tell Fox 2 they received a call around 3:40 am Sunday on the 15000 block of Stoepel near Pilgrim. When officers arrived, they discovered the two people unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A black Impala was seen in the area during the time of the shooting. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information on this unsolved crime is asked to call Detroit Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP.

    Police on Long Island say a 30-year-old driver has been arrested in connection with an accident that injured a 3-year-old girl being pushed in a stroller. Police say Scott Shea of Middle Island was driving a Jeep northbound on William Floyd Parkway, just south of Montauk Highway, when he struck the toddler at about 3:45 p.m. Monday.
