Charlotte, NC - If you're looking for some fun ways to spend the holiday weekend and the week ahead, Moira Quinn of Charlotte Center City Partners has some ideas.

Bearden Birthday Bash Friday, August 29th - Sunday, August 31stThis festival takes place over Labor Day Weekend in celebration of the park's namesake, Romare Bearden's birthday and to commemorate 1 full year of programming. The event is free to the public will be full of musical entertainment and art. There will be feature bands on both Friday and Saturday nights with regional talent playing throughout Saturday and Sunday. Family-friendly activities will be scheduled throughout the day.

Charlotte's 15th annual Labor Day Parade honors the men and women who struggled to establish the rights and benefits workers enjoy today, including Social Security, the 40-hour work week, weekends off and health care. The parade includes bands, dance groups, political candidates, community and labor groups and businesses, all marching to honor the American worker.
