Beltran homers, Yankees beat White Sox 5-3

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (Associated Press) -

Carlos Beltran gave the Yankees' struggling offense a jolt with a home run in his return to the lineup, Martin Prado had another go-ahead hit and New York beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3 on Saturday.

Hiroki Kuroda (9-8) worked in and out of trouble for six innings, allowing two runs and five hits in helping New York to its third straight win after a 2-7 stretch.

Beltran missed the previous three games because of a sore right elbow that has almost exclusively limited him to a designated hitter role since May. He singled and scored in the fourth, when the Yankees ran themselves out of a chance to break open the game, and led off the sixth with a drive off Scott Carroll (5-8) that just cleared the fence in right field.
