New Age Spirituality takes on many forms: intuition, tarot, meditation, psychic ability.

There is a woman in Charlotte who some say can do it all.  They call her the Queen of Intuitives.  Her name is Gina Spriggs.  She says she can see spirits and predict the future. It all started when Gina was a young girl, growing up in New York.

One day, Gina's sister announced that she had an imaginary friend.  Gina thought that experience sounded familiar.  “I had this girl who comes out of the wall and she's carrying this huge box, and she has to walk into me and I have to walk into her, and when I turn around, she's not there.” Gina says the girl was a spirit.  Gina's mother had other ideas, and sent Gina to see a therapist.

For years, Spriggs says she suppressed her intuitive ability, but the visions kept coming. According to Gina, it was a long road:  that shutting down to fit in really lasted a long time.  I discovered tarot when I was about 16. I realized I could turn on the intuition when I had the deck of cards in my hand and turn it off when I put them away.   Tarot is just one of the tools Spriggs uses to tune into the spiritual realm.

“All of a sudden I was tapping into people's futures.  I've predicted winning lotteries, babies being born, people who didn't want babies.  I am like, ‘you're having one' and they did.”

After years of training, Gina Spriggs is what some call a master healer, an ordained minister, psychic and intuitive trainer.  This is how she does it:  “I close my eyes and tap into the person and kind of just breathe them in.”

She says she can breathe them in using tools like tuning forks, used for healing.  The forks are placed on various pressure points of the body – the same pressure points used in acupuncture.

Before Gina Spriggs wrapped up the show-and-tell in her Charlotte office, she shared a message for me, the Carolina Faith digital journalist.

“You've got a grandparent, a female grandparent who is very important to you who is hanging around you, just so you know….  You also have someone whose name begins with G or J - a male figure - who is important to you, too.

Could Gina really see my grandmother Willie Mae Crim, a social worker  who passed away two decades ago? Could she see one of my great grandfather's John Butler – a Civil War veteran – in the room?

Consider it food for thought.
