I’m a local boy from Claremont, North Carolina. I attended Western Carolina University where I received a B.S. in Communication with a double concentration of broadcasting and journalism. While in college I was the General Manager of WWCU-FM and color commentated WCU football basketball games.

Getting the call to take your game to the next level is a great accomplishment in baseball. It is an accomplishment that brings lots of emotions with it. Those emotions when you get the chance to play at the next level near your hometown. That is exactly what former UNC Charlotte star pitcher Tyler Barnette is getting to do.

Barnette is from Hickory, NC. He is 22-years-old and very excited about playing for the Knights.

"I was very shocked," said Barnette when he got the news from Single-A manager of Kannapolis Intimidators Pete Rose Jr. on Sunday. "I wish I had a camera on me seeing my face."

Barnette pitched two innings Sunday against the Durham Bulls where he didn't give up a hit and chalked up a strikeout. Something he is proud of but he can't wait to pitch in Charlotte.

"I can't even imagine during a game me on the mound pitching," said Barnette. "It's going to be an awesome feeling."
