NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Baseball legend Darryl Strawberry and his wife, Tracy Strawberry, have a lot in common.

Both survived drug addiction, both are divorced- twice, and both have overcome painful lows including adultery and financial ruin.

Life has changed dramatically for the pair as together they’ve rebuilt their lives and are sharing how they did it in a new book, ‘The Imperfect Marriage: Help For Those Who Think It’s Over.’

“Marriages need help today. We need to survive. This book is about real people, real problems seeking solutions, real hope and real help,” said Tracy Strawberry.

“(It’s about) ‘me’ first before ‘we.’ If I don’t get ‘me’ together first, you can’t put a ‘we’ together,” said Darryl Strawberry.

The couple who are pastors and are booked through 2015 are “very busy helping people.”

“You have to be well on the inside. We bring problems into the marriage. We deal with these things in the book,” said Tracy Strawberry.

One of the must-dos for any struggling couple, according to the Strawberrys, is to disengage with social media.

“People live their life in social media. It’s about 'who is this person,' 'who is that person?' We don’t believe that. We want to put safeguards around our marriage and our children. My life is committed to God first, my wife and my children,” said Strawberry.
