Rough day in Bourbonnais: Monday Bears Blog

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Monday was not the best day in Bourbonnais for the Bears.

Marquess Wilson, on the verge of a breakout camp, broke his clavicle on a diving attempt midway through practice. Wilson was carted off the field, and head coach Marc Trestman says there is currently no timeline for his return. Wilson says doctors haven't determined treatment options yet, so right now it's a waiting game to see how long he'll be out of action.

Someone will have to step up in Wilson's absence, and Eric Weems is a top candidate. Weems has been more of a special teams ace in the past, but has done well with his opportunities so far in camp.

Meanwhile, things got chippy at the end of practice when Martellus Bennett took exception to a hit from Kyle Fuller. The tight end was tossed to the ground, when Fuller tried to strip him of the football. He jumped up, grabbed Fuller, and threw him to the ground in response. After the players were separated, Bennett and Brandon Marshall continued to argue, until finally Trestman decided to end the practice early.

Both Bennett and Fuller brushed off the scuffle after practice, and said they had moved on. Trestman wouldn't comment on whether there would be any disciplinary action internally.

NOTES:

Lance Briggs didn't finish practice after bumping knees with another player. The injury is not thought to be anything of concern.
