Whistleblower Seeks Sanctions Against Attorney General's Office

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. - More controversy involving the State Ethics Commission.

In a letter, obtained exclusively by the FOX 5 I-Team, former Ethics director Stacey Kalberman's plans to seek sanctions against the state Attorney General's office.

Kalberman won a million dollar whistle blower lawsuit claiming she was forced out of her job for aggressively investigating governor Deal's campaign finances.

Her attorney, Kim Worth wrote the Attorney General saying he violated discovery rules by withholding a memo written by the current Ethics Commission's executive director Holly LaBerge.

Earlier, Ms. LaBerge told us a top member of the Governor's staff threatened her during the case.

The Governor says his executive attorney never threatened anyone.

Ms. LaBerge’s memo describing the threat was never turned over to Kalberman's attorneys during the lawsuit.

In her letter to the Attorney General, Kim Worth, Kalberman's attorney, describes the violations as "bad faith and abusive litigation, ethical misconduct and fraud upon the court."

The Attorney General responded saying their attorneys "acted completely within the bounds of their ethical obligations."
