1 dead when car crashes into house after driver, passenger shot

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting on Detroit's west side. The two victims were riding in the same vehicle, which lost control and crashed into the side of a house after the shooting.

George Zimmerman was inside his house on Prairie near Joy Road and saw the madness heading his way.

A gray Pontiac Aztec flying southbound was, according to police, trying to escape the gunfire. The driver and his passenger, who had been shot several times, lost control and slammed into the side of his house.

Rachel Jackson is still in shock, rushing to the scene after she learned 21-year-old Michael Krenshaw was one of the people inside. He is father of her niece's unborn baby.

Krenshaw is in critical condition and another man was killed in the hit police believe was planned. They are still looking for the shooter and his weapon. No other gun was found at the scene. It is unknown if the shooter is in a vehicle or on foot.

Police say one thing is very clear, though - those shots were fired at close range, at least 11 rounds.

The scene has since been clear. Now, neighbors are assessing the damage, especially Zimmerman who has to worry if his house may come crumbling down.

"The porch will have to be rebuilt. Notice how the brick columns are both tilted," he says. The homeowner says firefighters had to hand-build it to restabilize it. He says he was told the structure itself on the inside has no damage.

As far as the two victims, we're learning Krenshaw was just released from jail three months ago.

The identity of the man who was killed has not been confirmed yet.

What they were running from is also unclear at this time.

Authorities are working to interview witnesses and neighbors that may have seen anything. If you know anything you're asked to call Detroit police.

Police say they're investigating a large brawl that broke out at the end of a wedding reception held over the weekend at a suburban Buffalo country club. Officials tell local media that seven different police agencies were called in late Saturday to break up the fight at the Orchard Park Country Club. Officers say dozens of the approximately 200 guests were involved in the melee, which broke out after a member of the wedding party was tossed off the premises for inappropriate behavior.
