Governor reacts to Ethics allegations

Posted: Updated:

Governor Nathan Deal says no one on his staff threatened the head of the State Ethics Commission.

The Governor sat down with Senior Fox 5 I-Team Reporter Dale Russell for his first television interview following allegations of strong-arming by a member of his staff.

State Ethics Commission Executive Director Holly LaBerge told the Fox 5 I-Team, in an exclusive interview, she was threatened by the Governor's Executive Council, Ryan Teague. At the time, the Governor was accused of campaign ethics violations.

The Governor admits Teague called LaBerge, but says he's not the kind of guy to threaten anyone.

Governor Deal also says he doesn't think Teague crossed any line by getting involved in the negotiations.

Deal says it was a tough case handled property. He has paid his penalty and the matter should be put to rest.
