Heartbroken father asks Reddit users to design photos of daughter

Posted: Updated:

A father devastating by loss turned to social media to help him grieve.

Last week, Reddit user steffel07, Nathan Steffel , posted a heartbreaking request on Reddit, a social network that allows people to submit and vote on content. He lost his infant daughter Sophia who lived just six weeks after battling hepatic hemangioma in her liver.

“My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the Children's Hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo,” Steffel wrote.

He received an enormous response from users willing to help him with his request and grieving parents.

A message board conversation reveals Nathan and his wife knew of the condition from an early ultrasound but did not know how bad it would get.

“I just wanted to reach out to get at least one quality picture. I was amazed how many people responded. We have so many nice pictures now.” Steffel told BuzzFeed.

Nathan says he and his wife will hang some of the photos in their home to remember their daughter.
