Woman's final wish granted during wedding

Posted: Updated:

A Flint, Mich.  woman who has battled cancer for five years got her wedding wish granted.

Jennifer Hutcheson and her new husband Allen Korth, said their "I do's" Sunday at a home in nearby Fenton.

Getting married was one of the 30-year-old Hutcheson's final wishes as cancer spread through her body and in February was given two to six months to live.

The entire wedding was completely donated by Michigan wedding vendors through Wish Upon a Wedding, the world’s first nonprofit organization dedicated to providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and other serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation.

Jennifer and Allen met each other nine years ago at their workplace and became good friends. Their friendship developed into love shortly after Jennifer’s 21st birthday.

At the age of 25, she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. She was briefly in remission during her countless treatments, but the cancer returned and spread throughout her body. Through it all, Allen has stood by her side.

“People have said we have what they wish they could have,” said Jennifer. “When I’m sick, which has been more than half of our relationship, he is the only one I know I can trust and count on. Allen has stood by me throughout this whole ordeal. He has been my rock.”

Jennifer said that the couple had wanted to marry much sooner, but that would have caused her to lose her insurance benefit. Now that she has entered hospice care, 100 percent of her end of life care will be covered, allowing the couple to finally marry.

“My future looks short,” said Jennifer, “but I want to spend the time I have left as Jennifer Marie Korth, wife of Allen Carl Korth. The fact that I have true love makes my short future so much easier to bare.”

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.
