If you live along Mallard Creek Church Road, you have seen many changes in the last few years. The I-485 extension project has been underway since 2010 and it's now in it's final portion in the Mallard Creek area. It's causing headaches for one family though.

People in Mallard Creek area neighborhoods held a peaceful protest on Friday morning. They want City Council to vote "no" on a petition that would bring more apartment complexes and a grocery store on Prosperity Church Road near the Highland Creek area.

Neighbors say schools are already overcrowded in the area, traffic is congested, and there are three grocery stores within one mile. People in the community told me they were promised something similar to a "Birkdale Village" back in 1999 and they said the area can support that type of village.

"City Council and planning need to understand, they work for us. Start listening to what we want, not what they want," said Reese Untz who is against the re-zoning petition.

The petition is 13-94.  There is a proposed plan by developers could bring an additional grocery and more apartment complexes to the area.  People in surrounding neighborhoods say schools are already overcrowded and additional apartment complexes would bring more congestion and devalue property.

"This area deserves so much more than a strip center. This area, what we have here in housing. I mean we have great people in this area," said Sarah Zdeb who is against the re-zoning petition.

The message this group wanted to get across to City Council was sent through signs that read "We The People Say No to Apartment Complexes" and through words.

"You better be voting no like we're already telling you so you better listen to what all these people are saying if you want to get elected again," said Untz.

City Council will vote next month on the petition.  City Councilman Gregory Phipps said he was unaware of the protest but said the public can voice their opinion at the City Council meeting on July 21st at 6 pm.

Deep beneath the hustle and bustle of Tribeca lies a modern-day oasis brimming with old world charm: Aire Ancient Baths, my new favorite city escape. The breathtaking spa is illuminated by hundreds of candles and smells of invigorating eucalyptus. For around $80 you can bathe in the tranquil blue pools for 90 minutes and find the temperature that's right for you.

From coffee shops in Brooklyn to restaurants in Manhattan, we find speakeasies standing out by blending in. When people in Bushwick want a green machine juice blend they visit Leticia Castillo's Owl Juice Pub. But first they must find the owl. "We been doing fine without a sign," Castillo says.

Only 10 percent of people who get CPR from a bystander actually survive. But two young men in Westchester County have now patented a device that could dramatically increase those odds and save lives. John and Chris DiCapua's sitting room in their parents' Westchester County home has had a unique guest lying around for quite a while now: a CPR dummy. What began as an idea from their time as Boy Scouts is now a device that could potentially save lives.
