Child-Centered Divorce

Posted: Updated:

July is National Child-Centered Divorce Month. Too often when couples end their marriage, there is little if any attention paid to what their children want and what their children feel is best for the family. Some studies show that as many as 75% of California's marriages end in divorce and that nearly 30% of those divorced couples have children under the age of 18. California is one of the states where courts recognize children and their needs during and after a divorce. But too often, children become the victims of their parents' anger and frustration. In the worst cases, children have been kidnapped and even murdered as the direct result of their parents' anger resulting from divorces and custody battles.

Today's guest is Terry McNiff, an attorney and the author of the book Picture Your Divorce to See the Right Decision. Mr. McNiff's practice covers divorces in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties.

Information about the book is available at youtube.com/pictureyourdivorce. His telephone number is (760) 805-8081.

Of all the world's religions, Buddhism is one of the most mysterious and most intriguing to many Americans. The books The Dharma Bums, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and even If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him!, are all examples of how Buddhist concepts are part of the American cultural landscape.

As they go around on the merry-go-round, you may start to think you’re seeing double … but you’re not. The Hess triangle is a tiny piece of private property in Greenwich Village. Manhattan historian Joyce Gold explained the origins of the property: After World War I, New York City seized a beautiful residence and tore it down so it could extend Seventh Avenue and the west side subway below it. The city left the building's owner only a tiny scrap of property so small it requested he donate the triangle to make way for a sidewalk. The man refused, took the city to court and won.
