Swimmers are urged to use caution along the Jersey shore. A high risk for rip currents is in effect through Monday evening. The National Weather Service says a surf height of 3 to 5 feet along with the wind will combine to create dangerous swimming conditions. Swimmers are advised to listen to lifeguards and not swim at unguarded beaches.

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - It may sound worse than it is, but the Polar Vortex people in the Northeast heard so much about last winter is already concerning some as it gets set to return this summer.

FOX 5 Meteorologist Mike Woods says there is no need to worry, just be aware of the weather change to come.

"A big dip in the jet stream could set us up for severe weather mainly Tuesday," said Woods.

Stronger winds from the south will pull in cooler air that runs up to the warmer, humid air the Tristate region is currently experiencing.  The area could see heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms on Tuesday.

"The cool air makes a difference with what happens out there all together. Every once in a while we get a taste of it," says Woods.

In early January, the Polar Vortex caused a major temperature drop in the New York City area. On Monday, January 6, the morning temperature was about 57 degrees. By Tuesday morning, the mercury had dipped to six degrees!

New York City women are tired of hearing vile things yelled at them as they walk down the street. Many women are going public about street harassment and catcalling. Some even post picture of their offenders on social media. Founded in 2005, Hollaback! is an anti-harassment organization giving women a platform to do just that.

Homeless people still sleep under the Manhattan Bridge, but others who used to camp out near its base have been displaced by police and are now calling Park Avenue South home. Park Avenue South sits in one of the trendiest parts of Manhattan, with businesses, restaurants, hotels, and swank lofts. It's also the street corner home base of Tommy Lanfranchi and his domestic partner Nicole Kilroy, who've been in a methadone program for 10 years.
