NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - For the third straight day and the second time in Hempstead, human remains were found on Long Island.

On Thursday afternoon, a severed arm was discovered in the yard of a home on Stewart Ave. and Cornell St., said police.

On Tuesday, a severed arm was found only blocks away in front of a home on Webb Ave.

Police on Long Island and New York City are investigating the discoveries along with that of a partially dismembered body found in a municipal parking lot in Bay Shore earlier in the week for any connection.

A woman from Bedford-Stuyvesant was reported missing over the weekend.

Investigators are looking into the possibility the remains belong to her, according to the NY Daily News.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
