Self-serve beer machines at stadium

Forget the soda, one MLB ballpark features self-serve beer.

Target Field in Minneapolis has a first of its kind self-serve beer kiosks. The first made its debut this past weekend during the Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees series. A second kiosk is expected to be operational in time for Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game next week.

Fans still have to show ID to a cashier who then gives them a vending card worth $10, $20 or $50. Then the person can choose from four beers, which are sold by the ounce. Customers can pour 48 ounces every 15 minutes.

The choices: Budweiser and Bud Light at 38 cents per ounce, or Shock Top Lemon Shandy and Goose Island 312 Urban Pale Ale at 40 cents per ounce.

The first self-serve beer station sits along the main concourse on the third-base side of the stadium. The second station is expected to be placed on the first-base side.
