Accused killer arrested in Mesa on various charges

PHOENIX (AP) - A man facing trial for the stabbing death of a Scottsdale nightclub bouncer has been arrested on weapons and alcohol charges in Mesa.

Ian Alexander MacDonald is being held without bond after his initial appearance Monday in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Mesa police say the 27-year-old MacDonald also was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of intent to assault, disorderly conduct and other charges.

They say MacDonald was earlier cited by a park ranger for drinking alcohol and reportedly pointed a gun at a Mesa couple.

MacDonald was accused of killing ex-Arizona State football player Tyrice Thompson outside the Martini Ranch in January 2013.

He pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. MacDonald was released pending an April 9 trial with conditions that prohibited him from possessing a weapon or consuming alcohol.
