Cat Survives 3 Story Fall, Medical Bills Add Up For Owner

Posted: Updated:

Meet Zhaleh.

Zhaleh is one tough and lucky cat!

She is known for hanging out on the roof and interacting with other animals like birds and squirrels, though she is not truly an outside cat.

Saturday morning her owner, Eddie, couldn’t find Zhaleh anywhere in the house.

Knowing that Zhaleh loved to hangout on the roof of his 3 story apartment in North Philadelphia, he looked outside on the roof as well.

Still no luck!

The next move was to look outside on the ground level, somewhere Zhaleh had never really ventured into.

That’s when Eddie spotted a squirrel that he has seen interact with his cat on multiple occasion.

In a half-joking manner, Eddie asked the squirrel to take him to his missing cat.

According to Eddie and his roommate, that's when the squirrel had climbed a near-by tree and began to make noises.

Eddie looked directly below the squirrel to find Zhaleh, as she let out a distressed meow of her own.

When Zhaleh was inspected further, her owner noticed that her face had been bloodied and her paw did not look normal.

So he called a friend and they headed to a local animal hospital where they were told that it would cost around $5,000 to have the paw fixed correctly by an experienced orthapedic vet at UPENN.

Zhaleh was lucky to have survived the fall as the vet explained cats have about a 50/50 chance of surviving that fall, and she was even luckier not to have broken her jaw.

Eddie, a student at Temple University, has since started a GoFundMe Campaign to help raise the funds for Zhaleh's medical bills.
