Hamilton Township Garage Break-Ins Have Residents On High Alert

Posted: Updated:
HAMILTON TWP., N.J. -

Police in Hamilton Township say they're dealing with a rash of garage break-ins with thieves stealing everything from bikes to power tools.

Neighbors were stunned to hear about the recent rash of burglaries in her hometown. Police are warning neighbors in Laureldale and Weymouth to look out for any suspicious vehicles that could be transporting the stolen goods.

"We really left our shed open. Now, I think were gonna put a lock on it," resident John Petrucci said.

That's probably a good idea since police say they are targeting sheds and garages. And so far, more than half a dozen victims have come forward.

Police also say the burglaries usually take place at night while the homeowner is sleeping. They say the thieves have gotten away with high priced valuables such as lawn movers, generators, and dirt bikes.

"Our garage is usually open when we are home. (It is what it is.) I guess there is so much badness out there. You can't live everyday in fear," said neighbor Megan Trivelli.

A few minutes away in Misty Pines, neighbors say they're being vigilant after police say there have been about a dozen break in's at night too. Burglars have gotten away with cash and jewelry. Police say they break in the homes through windows or back doors.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.
