'Camp No Worries' Gives Kids With Cancer A Week Of Fun

TABERNACLE, N.J. -

Children whose lives have been touched by cancer are getting a whole week to forget about their cares and have fun in South Jersey.

"Camp No Worries" is a program of the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties that is taking place for the 20th year at Camp Inawendiwin in Tabernacle.

“In 20 years we have served over 1,500 campers age 6-16 years from the tri-state area. We have given children a week of no worries and families a much needed respite from the demanding life of childhood cancer. We have given childhood back to the kids who need it most. We have brought in well over 1,000 volunteers to make the magic of camp. We have built friendships that will last a life time, and shed tears for those lost. We've built a community, a home, and lasting care free memories to cherish forever,” said Kasey Massa, Camp No Worries board recruiter and Camp President.

Each of the campers are dealing with cancer in some way. Some are patients while others are survivor's siblings or bereaved siblings.

The kids get to do all of the fun things you remember from summer camp, along with nurses, social workers and counselors who can give them the special care they need.

All of the 80 campers form a special bond.

"When I think of camp, I think a lot of people, not just the campers, and the friendliest of the campers. But the staff, counselors, even the kitchen staff, they’re nice to you, said camper Artie Anenberg.
