Man wearing Batman mask sneaks into elderly woman's backyard

Posted: Updated:
YPSILANTI, Mich. (WJBK) -  We're used to The Caped Crusader fighting crime - but not committing a crime.

The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, says she likes to get up with the birds and feed the birds in her own backyard. Suddenly, she says she thought her own grandson slipped into her backyard.

"This young man came around and he's about the same build as one of my grandsons and I, for just a second, I thought maybe Michael is just teasing us. But then I realized this is not something Michael would do," she says.

Her grandson does not do home invasions but the victim says that's what this guy seemed to have in mind - while he was disguised as Batman.

The woman called 911 and told the operator how the man was dressed.

The woman also tells the dispatcher, "He started talking to me and I said, 'Who are you and what are you doing in my yard?' He was pretty bundled up. He actually put his arm around my chest, close to my neck, and at that point I said, 'Young man, I think you have a problem here.'"

What she said next possibly saved her life, and probably saved the phoney Batman's life as well.

"I think you should know that my husband has a loaded shotgun in the house and he will not hesitate to use it," she says she told the perpetrator.

She says he left quickly after that.

Once again, good triumphs over evil.

Making New York City more energy efficient

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
