Imagine being inside a chamber, and healing your wounds? It's a medical therapy for humans, but now it's going to the dogs.

This hyper baric chamber is the first of it's kind in the Charlotte region, the next closet chamber like it is more than a hundred miles away. It's used to repair tissue trauma, snake bites, and head trauma.

Dr. Angela Abendroth is a veterinarian at CVets in Matthews. She says the chamber provides pressurized oxygen to the animals inside, and they do great and don't hear or feel a thing.

CVets has been using the treatment in concert with medication, and it's worked. The machine was able to rebuild the tissue in one dog's tongue, after he was bitten by a snake.

Each treatment is about $150, and could be more cost effective than traditional medicine if the animal can be treated in one or two sessions. It just depends on the injury, and the type of treatment.
