CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man has been charged with stabbing another man during a fight Sunday on a CTA bus on the West Side.

Eddie Griffin, 62, is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to police and the Cook County Sheriff’s office. He was ordered held on $100,000 bond Tuesday.

Griffin allegedly got on a CTA bus heading eastbound on Roosevelt Road at Homan Avenue about 11:30 a.m. and a woman’s leg was obstructing him from walking to the back of the bus, according to police.

Griffin told the woman, who suffers from a medical condition, to move, “Or I’ll cut you,” according to the police report.

When the woman’s friend stood up and defended her, Griffin allegedly pulled out a box cutter and cut him once in the right hand, three times in the left arm and once in the abdomen, according to police.

Griffin then got off the bus and headed southbound on Kedzie Avenue. A witness waved down a police officer and told them what happened, and gave a description of Griffin, police said.

The officer found Griffin and took him into custody, and the victim identified him, police said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in “stable” condition, police said.

Griffin is next scheduled to appear in court June 30.
