Minneapolis, MN- A Minnesota man was arrested  after police say he checked his Facebook account in someone else's home.

According to authorities, Nicholas Wig, 26, decided to check his Facebook account after he allegedly burglarize a house in Minneapolis.

"He pulled up his Facebook profile and left it up,” said homeowner James Wood. "Shared his photo, and I said watch out for this guy he's a thief."

So when Wood returned to his home, he knew right away who the suspect was.

Wood eventually got in contact with Wig, and the two agreed to meet up. Wood told the suspect he left a few items behind at his house.

Little did the suspect know, police were waiting for him at the meeting point.

"If he wouldn't have done the Facebook thing we would have never caught him," said Wood.

According to Wood, the suspect swiped credit cards, cash for soccer tournaments, a checkbook and a watch.

"Yeah, I've never seen this before,” said Dakota County Attorney James Backtrom. "It’s a pretty unusual case. Might even make the late night television shows in terms of not being too bright.

If convicted, Wig could face up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
