SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. - A Huachuca City man has been arrested for trying to kill the father of his ex-girlfriend.

Cochise County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 22 year-old Alec Durbin for attempted murder and other charges.

Deputies first got the call on Thursday night after 10 p.m. of shots fired near Whetstone, Arizona. The caller said his daughter's ex-boyfriend had stopped him by blocking the road. When he confronted Durbin and told him to stay away from his family Durbin allegedly pulled a gun from his car and fired at the victim as he drove away.

Investigators found a bullet hole in the rear of the car that had traveled near the rear seat area. The victim identified the shooter as Durbin and authorities found him in Sierra Vista. They found a 40 caliber handgun with 2 magazines, one full and one empty.

Durbin was booked into the Cochise County jail on charges of endangerment, disorderly conduct with a weapon, aggravated assault with a weapon, and attempted 1st degree murder. A judge set his bond at $75,000.
