NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A jogger in Texas found an eight-month-old girl abandoned in a car safety seat after she was the subject of an Amber Alert.

Police conducted a search for Genesis Haley after someone stole a vehicle with her inside, reported FOX 26 News.

The Texas Center for the Missing issued the Houston Regional Amber Alert for Haley on behalf of the Houston Police Department at 3:10 a.m. Monday.

Haley, who has sandy brown hair, was wearing white pants, a white T-shirt and four barrettes in her hair when she was last seen in her mother's 2004 green four-door Saturn Ion at a Texaco fuel station.

Police later found the vehicle on Greens Parkway.

The child was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Anyone with information about the child or suspect was asked to immediately call the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600.

Every day, those who live and work in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn drive and bike and walk across their canal, growing a little more accustomed to but no less disgusted by its scent and appearance. Once the busiest canal in the United States, the Gowanus now bears the distinction as perhaps the most polluted body of water in the nation. No one knows exactly how polluted because few have summoned enough courage to dive into its murky depths to investigate.
