Kings Victory Parade: The Fans

Posted: Updated:
Oh my God! Oh my God"....one woman screamed.

"They are here, LOOK" yelled another one...with the huge crowd cheering loud enough to make one's ears ring, as buses filled with Kings players made their way through the victory parade route.

Thousands stood 10 deep to catch a glimpse of the players, coaches and their families. Many arrived as early as 4:00 am to stake out a spot along Figueroa. Players raised the shiny Stanley cup, as fans reached out, as if to touch it.

For many, there was a sense of vindication. This is the second time the Kings win the cup in three years. The first time, critics said the win was a "one time thing". Today, many a hard core fan was using words like dynasty, saying " We will be here again, next year."

Season ticket holders were able to go inside the stadium for a rally, where the players were introduced, and Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti actually dropped an f bomb when congratulating the team - on live television.

The crowd roared, but Fox Sports West anchors apologized to viewers. There was no time to bleep the expletive on live television. Who would have thought, said many coming out of the rally, the mayor would get THAT excited?

He is not the only one who is overwhelmed, though. Police say the crowd was too emotional to get in trouble (did not hurt that the parade was early, and there was no alcohol sold nearby). No problems reported, and t he streets were back open by 2pm.
