Polk woman named Crystal Metheny arrested for firing 'offensive missile'

Posted: Updated:

With a name like Crystal Metheny, you might think an arrest would be tied to something drug-related.

But it's not, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The 36-year-old was recently charged for firing what deputies called an "offensive missile into a vehicle."

According to records obtained by FOX 13 on Thursday, that missile was a BB.

An arrest affidavit says for unknown reasons she fired a BB from a gun at a vehicle in front of her house. Two teenagers picking up their younger sibling, who is the son of her boyfriend, were inside the car.

The arrest report never indicates what led to her firing the BB.

No one was hurt, but their mother discovered the damage to her car when the teenagers returned home and told her what happened.

The incident happened May 5 on Herrod Road in Lake Wales, where Metheny lives with her boyfriend.

The strike mark left by the BB was about 8 inches below the window frame.
