NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Actor and director Clint Eastwood has taken one of the most successful Broadway musicals in history and turned it into a movie.

Jersey Boys, the story behind Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, is true to what fans have seen on the Great White Way.

“I think it’s very faithful to the musical. But it breaths in a different way because of the medium. You get an even more intimate portrait of these guys,” said Vincent Piazza of ‘Boardwalk Empire’ fame.

Piazza got a call from his agent who told him not to get his hopes too high because Eastwood was casting mostly actors from the musical. He was later picked to play the role of Tommy DeVito.

For New York City native Michael LaMenda, who joined the Jersey Boys tour when he was 20 years old and plays Nick Massi in the movie, the film is a career high.

“Eastwood showed up to one of the shows!” said LaMenda who couldn’t believe it at first.

“Every day was surreal. You get a call that Clint Eastwood would like you for his new movie; your sort of go to your therapist and the gym at the same time. He decided to use so many people who had done the show,” said Erich Bergen who plays Bob Gaudio.

Jersey Boys the movie is in theaters June 20.

Singer Constantine Maroulis is back on Broadway in Rock of Ages and he couldn't be more excited. “It's incredible. I think every actor's dream is to create a role that becomes an iconic show all around the world. The show is played for millions of people. To be back on Broadway is a great time,” said Maroulis. The Brooklyn born New Jersey raised performer returned to the role he helped create this summer. The question was never if, but when, he would come back.
