She’s a mom and a gold medalist on the beach, but her secret weapon is something our viewers already have in their pantry. Kerri Walsh Jennings is preparing for her 2014 season and her ultimate goal of competing in the 2016 games. She turns to one ingredient to keep her feeling energized—honey.

A quick and natural energy boost, Jennings uses honey to power through her busy days. At about 17 grams of carbohydrates and 64 calories per tablespoon, honey provides Jennings energy her body can use quickly especially during her grueling volleyball circuit. How does she survive? Her sweet survival kit of course!

Jennings can be found turning to the golden ingredient as a sweet addition to her post-work out shakes and her family’s favorite snack: almond butter and honey sandwiches.
