Details of four new restaurants in downtown Detroit

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - Three new restaurants will soon opening in downtown Detroit.

Detroit businessman Dan Gilbert's Bedrock Real Estate Services is the umbrella over three new restaurants opening this summer in the city's central business district.

One of the new spots, Freshii, will be catered to folks on-the-go with "low-fat probiotic yogurt smoothies," says Andrew Dickow, owner of Freshii. "Switch any salad that you want to - kale, quinoa, wheat wraps, brown rice bowls," he adds.

Also 7 Greens, a farm-to-fork salad joint, will open up on Library Street.

"We have fresh daily soups, breads, and sweet treats and drinks," says Kelly Schaefer-Janssen, owner of 7 Greens.

Wright & Co. is proud of their small plates, cocktails and new downtown space.

"It's going to be the most gorgeous restaurant in the city no question," says Dave Kwiakowski, owner of Wright & Co.

And not to mention a fourth treat - Mike's Kabob Grille opened just two weeks ago in the Chrysler House.

"He told me, 'Mike, you have to be prepared. It's going to be busy.' I [didn't] take him very serious, but I haven't even had the grand opening yet [and it's] extremely busy," says Mike Abdallah.

These four additions will add to the some 50 Bedrock properties that cover 8.2 million square feet in the downtown area with a total investment of more than $1.3 billion.

"We've leased close to 100,000 square feet of retail in the last few months, so it's not just a thought. I mean, this is real. This is a true movement," says Bedrock's Vice President of Leasing and Development, Dan Mullen.

Freshii, located on Woodward, will open up in September.

Wright & Co., also located on Woodward, will open later in June.

Seven Greens is set to open in August.

The U.S. Open is underway in Queens and there's no denying that many of the players, both men and women, are in great physical shape and know how to play that up. Women are particularly promoted in the industry as attractive, fashionable and fiercely competitive. Does that help the game and draw more people in?
