Raised Excitement For Stanley Cup Bound Kings, So Are Ticket Prices

Los Angeles, CA -

(FOX 11) In 2012, Kings fan Conny Marinos, got to pose by the Stanley Cup. More than that, she watched them win. It cost her $200 to get in, but worth every penny she says.

But, the secondary outlet prices now are literally through the roof! Ticket aggregator TiQ IQ says, as an example, tickets for Game 1 are averaging $1085 starting from $386. Game 2 is averaging out at $1400 starting at $438. For Game 7 the average is $2407 starting at $971.

Kings President and a long time player Luc Robitaille is amazed by the prices ticket sellers are trying to get. He says "it's crazy, but it is sports and anytime you get in the finals and any big sporting event the demand is incredible."

One thing apparently adding to the massive spike in pricing is the fact that it's New York and LA going head to head.

It's a big market matchup creating big time demand.

Kings COO Kelly Cheeseman says "I think the prices are the demand of what an event of this magnitude is going to bring."

Basically, secondary ticket sellers work on a supply and demand basis. The more the demand the more the price. And, Sunday's exciting game ender at Staples didn't hurt. And, according to Cheeseman, "we're certainly seeing some overwhelming demand at this point." But, an average of over $1000 a ticket? Says the King's COO, "I think if you were to compare it to a Super Bowl of a major NCAA Championship, Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl, National Championship. I think you're going to find comparable prices."

So, we ask the question how much are you willing to pay for a ticket to see a Finals Game? One fan says "a finals game? 500 bucks." Another says "$350." A third says "$350 or $400."

But, obviously, others are willing to pay muchmore. Conny Marinos, who grew up watching the Kings, knows what she got for her money. In 2012, she says, "it was crazy. I was crying. Here I am a grown woman and here I am crying for them. Seeing them win that cup was amazing."
