One Dead, One Injured In Montgomery County Shooting

NORTH WALES, Pa. -

Police say a suspect took his own life after shooting a woman in the North Wales section of Montgomery Township in Montgomery County.

Officials tell FOX 29 the shooting was reported just after 10 a.m. Monday.

One school in the area, Gwyn-Nor Elementary, was reported to be on lockout, meaning no one is able to come or go because of police activity.

“They had their guns drawn. It was like right out of a movie. It was amazing,” said resident John Matthews.

Matthews says he saw the wounded woman stumbled into the street with blood on her upper body outside 2203 Harvard Court in the Whitford Village section of the development. As SWAT teams headed up the tree lined block, neighbors were ordered out of their homes.

“All of a sudden all these cops are out here with guns drawn and start running around,” said resident Alan Fishbein.

As emotional relatives of the victim arrived at the scene, police told reporters the victim was shot one time in the torso.

She was taken away by ambulance and placed into a waiting Medevac helicopter and rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

“Central Montgomery County SWAT team made entry to the residence and found the lone occupant and suspect who had taken his own life,” said Montgomery Township Police Chief Scott Bendig.

Two and half hours later after the ordeal started, SWAT teams left and neighbors were allowed back in, shaken by the experience and wondering what touched off the gunfire.

“We don't like to have this to happen to our neighborhood. We’re a very close knit neighborhood,” said neighbor Kathy Bean.

Police would not release the names of the victim or the suspect in the shooting. They would not answer questions about a motive or the relationship between the suspect and the wounded woman.

The female victim is still being treated for her injuries and her condition has not been released by police.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.
