Alan Thicke: We Want You To Have A 'Happy Ending' State

Posted: Updated:

Alan Thicke says (tongue in cheek) when it comes to his reality-ish TV show, you don't always see the true reality.

"I had to pretend that I wasn't a great golfer in one episode. I had to pretend I was a mediocre hockey player in another...not a great lover, that came up in one."

Thick is gearing up for the season finale of "Unusually Thicke", which airs next Wednesday on the TV Guide Network. He told Steve and Araksya this show isn't a typical "reality" show.

"It was intended to be a hybrid, we don't call it a reality show, it's reality with a wink. It's a sitcom reality...It's a real family in real situations but we want you to have a happy ending stage. So although it's real we want to get out of the drama with some fun and hopefully a laugh."

Steve asked Alan about the real life drama with his son Robin and wife Paula Patton...

"I always let them speak for themselves which they do very eloquently and he's doing it in an album right now...we're in touch every day...everything is good and everything will be good no matter what."

Steve also brought up a fact many people don't know...Alan wrote the theme to "Growing Pains" along with many other unforgettable sitcom themes.

The season finale of "Unusually Thicke" airs Wednesday at 10 and will feature a reunion of the "Growing Pains" cast.
