Bay area soldier's reunion is YouTube hit for the ages

LAKELAND (FOX 13) -

It's the moment a Bay area soldier had been dreaming of for years – and the moment that brought his longtime girlfriend to tears.

Today, their emotional reunion video is going viral on YouTube, and we spoke to the soldier behind it all.

Sgt. Clark Rahman of Lakeland wanted his return home to be special, especially for his girlfriend, Lexi Rhoden.

With a plan that literally took "years to put together," he got his fraternity brothers at Florida State to coordinate a surprise Lexi will never forget.

Rahman landed at Tampa International Airport, hopped in a car with friends, drove to Tallahassee the same day, and showed up at a college party where she was with dozens of people.

"We landed in Tampa around 11 o'clock, grabbed lunch … We got to Tallahassee around 5 or 6," Rahman said.

The video, which had more than 140,000 hits Thursday, shows Rahman walking into the party through the back gate of a yard.

Lexi runs straight toward him and jumps into his arms.

"I was overwhelmed, overwhelmed," Rahman said. "I knew what to expect a little bit, but just walking through the gates, I just couldn't imagine. It just all worked out perfectly."

"I was in disbelief at first," she said. "The whole time I just remember saying to him, 'Is this real? Is this real?' I can't even put it into words, but I can say that I imagined that moment over and over again."

Clark especially wanted to thank his fraternity brothers at Pi Kappa Alpha – Delta Lambda chapter – for helping with the video and party.

There's more good news. The George Jenkins High School graduate is now home for good after serving in Afghanistan.

He plans to return to FSU and finish his degree.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
