8th annual NYC zombie bar crawl

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Zombies that swarmed through Brooklyn over the weekend weren't out for blood or brains.

What they really wanted was beer.

The 8th annual NYC zombie crawl made its way through Brooklyn Sunday night much to the shock and even scare of onlookers and a few drivers.

The gory gathering kicked off at the Trash Bar in Williamsburg, where regular guys and gals were transformed into the living dead.

Eventually they marched on to another bar in the neighborhood.

Candice Batson and friend Tony Valt are first time zombies.

“So far it’s pretty awesome...I am pretty excited to get crawling” Batson said.

But for others, the event has become somewhat of a tradition.

“This is my fifth year” said one zombie.“Oh I love it I love it, if missed it I’d be dead!”

If you didn’t make the ghoulish crawl, don’t worry there's another zombie crawl in the fall.

New York City subway riders are getting back service on the G train between Brooklyn and Queens. The return of service comes as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority reopens a tunnel Tuesday that was heavily damaged by Superstorm Sandy. The Greenpoint tunnel has been closed for five weeks for repairs. Shuttle buses were provided between G stops in Queens and Brooklyn during that time.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
