New York and New Jersey have some of USA's best hot dogs

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Two of the top 10 hot dog spots in the USA are within 15 miles of Manhattan, according to The Daily Meal.

We begin our pursuit of the top dog in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Word of mouth is putting Bark on the national map. Their bacon-cheddar dog was recently voted the eighth best hot dog in the country. The combination of toppings is mouth-watering. And underneath, the meat tastes extremely fresh. All the condiments are made in house. The hot dogs are reasonably priced, ranging from $4 to $6.50 a pop. There's a host of other Americana classics on the menu like wings, burgers and fries.

Next up: Rutt's Hut in Clifton, N.J. The recipe for success is simple. There's only one hot dog on the menu -- and it's deep fried. The casing rips open as it cooks, hence the name The Ripper. The consistency of the food and family-style feel attracts fifth generation customers and first timers from all over the world.
