San Pedro Packages for Patriots, Operation Happy Feet

Posted: Updated:
San Pedro, CA -

An outpouring of support and love to the men and women who serve our country from the of Port of Los Angeles High School.

Students donated more than 500 pairs of socks for the US Military through a non-profit organization, San Pedro Packages for Patriots. The group sends letters, care packages and comfort items to the deployed.

Founder Mike Walker says, "for these soldiers a simple thing like socks means a lot and this is a way to make sure they're getting what they need. It's the least we can do for all their hard work serving this country."

Eleventh grader Alicia Moser says she collected 100 cards and got them signed from her classmates and family members to send to troops. She says, "this is a way they can know they're appreciated even if they get a card from complete strangers. It's our way of saying thank you."

San Pedro Packages for Patriots has been doing this for six years and has sent roughly 100-thousand pounds of different kinds of goods to troops in Afghanistan and Kuwait. Many soldiers have sent thank you notes back which touch the hearts of the volunteers who are eager to give.
