NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

After a hiatus last year caused by the federal budget sequestration, Fleet Week New York is back for 2014.

The U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard are coming to town from May 21 through May 27.

Locals and tourists will have a chance to tour Navy and Coast Guard vessels and meet sailors, Marines, and coasties. Many service men and women from those ships also get some much-needed shore leave and will explore New York, many for the first time.

Events related to Fleet Week will take place in all five boroughs as well as nearby suburbs in Westchester, Long Island, and New Jersey.

The parade of ships will take place Wednesday, May 21, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., in New York Harbor.

General ship tours are held Thursday, May 22, through Monday, May 26, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lines may be capped at 3 p.m.
