Blind football player gets chance to play in college

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

High school long snapper Aaron Golub has committed to Tulane's football team as a preferred walk-on. That might not sound like a big deal until you find out that Golub has no vision in his right eye and very limited vision in his left. The Massachusetts teen is legally blind.

Rubio Long Snapping school says that Golub started working them in July of 2012. The teen's father contacted Rubio and alerted them of his condition before the camp.

They said it was no problem and despite Golub being what was described as "bad, real bad" he continued to work on his technique.

The school says that Golub, and his father, were both like sponges. They even came to camp with a pair of modified glasses/goggles to show people exactly how the teen normally sees.

The view is described as closing one eye and then making a fist with a hole that size of a dime and put the opening of the other eye.

Golub "wouldn’t stop until he reached his goal and, most likely, silenced the countless people that told him he wouldn’t be able to do what he wanted because of his 'disability'," Chris Rubio says.

Going off to college is an exciting time for the entire family, especially for the upcoming freshman. But with technology, parents can be in touch all the time. What's too much and what's just enough? Freshman move-in day seems to be harder on the parents than the students at Stony Brook University.
