ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) - A woman has died after being trapped inside her Ann Arbor home during a fire. Two other people were also hurt in the Saturday morning blaze.

As Fox 2's Robin Murdoch reports, neighbors awoke to screams for help. Click on the video player to watch her report.

Neighbors tell Fox 2 they can't begin to describe the horror of what happened on Shady Lane. It only took crews minutes to arrive, but it seemed like forever.

We're told a neighbor first tried to kick in the back door to get to a woman who was trapped inside. But that didn't work. Emergency crews eventually rescued the woman. She and her husband were rushed to a nearby hospital along with a firefighter who suffered an ankle injury. The family dog did not escape.

Firefighters say they were able to put the flames out pretty quickly, but there were personal belongings inside the house that got in the way. Investigators say it will be several days before they determine the cause of the fire. The house is a total loss. The victim's identity has not been released.

The NYPD is investigating a major security breach at the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the most highly secured landmarks in New York City. Two white flags — international symbols of surrender — fluttered from poles on the stone supports that hold cables above the bridge connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan. The flags had a faint appearance of the stars and stripes. The American flags that are normally up at the bridge appeared to have been removed.
