MYFOXNY.COM - The New York Rangers are off to a good start in their quest to make an appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1994.

St. Louis, who is scheduled to attend his mother's funeral with his teammates on Sunday, got the opening goal before Mats Zuccarello pushed the Rangers to a 2-0 lead in the first period in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Montreal..

The Canadiens then struck against "The King" Henrik Lundqvist. But the Rangers quickly struck back with a huge onslaught, taking advantage of a bad penalty on the part of Montreal and eventually took a 7-1 lead.

Montreal's star goalie Carey Price apparently injured his right leg when he was run over early in the second period. Price was replaced by Peter Budaj after the second period but it was not clear if it was because of an injury.

The crowd was completely silent as The Canadiens got one in toward the end of the third period to finish the day losing to the New York Rangers 7-2.

It was Montreal's worst playoff defeat since losing 8-2 to Carolina in 2002.

Before Saturday's crushing victory, the "Blue shirts" had scored only four goals in its past nine regular-season visits to the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals take place at Montreal on Monday at 8pm.

You've got a few more weeks to enjoy SummerStage, New York's annual performing arts showcase that's 28 years running. But it's not just music: there is dance, comedy, theater, you name it. There are several shows weekly at 14 different parks throughout the five boroughs. A recent show at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park paid tribute to Pete Seeger. Most of the shows are free and are funded by tickets purchased for the some of the bigger acts.
