Unconventional Fashion Model Shares Inspiring Story

WOODBURY, N.J. -

An unconventional model is on a mission. FOX 29's Kacie McDonnell has this woman's incredible story one that is sure to inspire others.

Woodbury, New Jersey’s Rebekah Marine is the epitome of beauty inside and out. She shared her journey with us. As challenging as it was, she came out on top and she's inspiring others to do the same.

Marine was born without a right forearm. She says was a very insecure person in high school and never looked when people asking her questions.

“I used to wear long sleeved shirts and I would always tuck her sleeve into a pocket so people wouldn’t really notice I was missing an arm,” she recalled.

One day her friends told her about modeling for a company that designs prosthetic arms. She also had a chance to be a spokesperson for the company. She let go of her fear and allowed things skyrocketed from there.

“Eventually I took off the prosthetic and embraced who I am as person,” Marine said.

Rebekah now works with the Lucky Fin Project, a non-profit that raises awareness and celebrates children and individuals born with symbrachydactyly or other limb differences.

“I want kids to realize that they're perfect the way that they remember you don't have to have cookie cutter image. We should be celebrating unique uniqueness. Some people are very insecure about their bodies and I feel like we all should just dropped those insecurities we could pursue anything we want,” she said.
