Police: Suspect In Custody, Vehicle Found In Center City Road Rage Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Center City- Police say they have taken a suspect into custody and have found the car, pictured in video surveillance footage, they believe was involved in a road rage shooting in Center City at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Fox 29’s Thalia Perez spoke with residents in the neighborhood today.

"I’m sure somebody may of seen something because it was still light out," said Donna De Stefano.

Neighbors on Lombard Street are talking about a road rage incident involving someone in a car shooting near the 400th block of Lombard Street.

Police say it was a 1995-1999 red Mitsubishi Eclipse with an unknown document in the back window that was involved.

"It’s scary, I don't want to hear gunshots or anybody getting hurt," said neighbor Susan Schau.

Schau says she was out on her balcony around that time, but didn't hear anything.

"I see a lot of road rage, so it would be nice to get him," she said.

Police say the shooting happened after the red Mitsubishi began closely following two women and a 4-month-old baby for several blocks.

According to authorities, the tailgating then turned into harassment with horn blowing and someone on the driver's side hanging out of the window.

When they finally reached Lombard and Broad streets, police say, that's when the shooting started, which shattered the rear window and pierced the passenger side-mirror.

De Stefano says that although the neighborhood is quiet she is always vigilant.

"You have to be careful of what you're doing and be aware of your surroundings at all times," she explained.

Police say no charges have been filed at this hour, but a suspect is being questioned by police.
