9-Year-Old Girl Shot 3 Times In Trenton

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, N.J.-Police say a 9-year-old girl was shot when she was walking down the street in Trenton on Monday afternoon.

Fox 29's Chris O'Connell reports.

The 9- year-old girl is recovering at Children's Hospital after being shot 3 times. She is expected to survive.

Trenton police say the little girl was an innocent victim in a barrage of gunfire.

"There was a vehicle that took about 9 rounds we don’t know what role that vehicle is playing right now," said Trenton Police Director Ralph Rivera, Jr.

Neighbors say the little girl and her mother from Bristol, Bucks County, were in Trenton visiting friends. But, while the girl was outside playing, gunfire erupted.

"First, I heard the shots. There were 6 of them and I saw a little girl running down the block with her arm bleeding," said neighbor Sadie Toney.

The girl ran to the home of  Anthony Robbins, who is a family friend, on the 200 block of Bellevue Avenue.

“When I come out and saw all the blood on her, I said oh…what happened? She said somebody shot me. 2 guys they just started shooting," said Robbins

The girl was grazed, hit three times. Grazed twice in the leg and torso and still has a bullet lodged in her shoulder.

Police say a warrant unit visited the property just 20 minutes prior to the shooting. Fox 29 was there when a man was taken into custody, but no word if he is connected to the shooting.

So far, police have made no arrests and have no description of the suspect.
