Relatives of Florida family killed in fire live in Michigan

Posted: Updated:
(WJBK) - The family of four that died in a roaring house fire in a Florida mansion has ties to Michigan. Joyce Lambie, the stepmother of victim Kim Campbell, lives in Boyne City, Mich.

Kim, along with her husband, Darrin, and their two children, 18-year-old Colin and 15-year-old Megan, were found shot and killed in their bedrooms as the home burst into flames.

Col. Donna Lusczynski of the Hillsborough Co. Sheriff's Office in Florida says the fire was set intentionally but the accelerant used is not known at this time.

Lusczynski says Darrin was seen purchasing $650 in fireworks over the weekend and he purchased several gas cans at a local home improvement store the same day.

Investigators describe upper body trauma to two of the victims. Autopsies are underway.

Lambie describes the family as a "close, happy family" and does not believe early suggestions that say this could be a triple murder-suicide.

Darrin graduated from the University of Michigan and Detroit Mercy. Kim graduated from Central Michigan University.

The family was renting the home for two years from tennis pro James Blake.
