Health Watch: Getting enough sleep? Take the sleep quiz

Posted: Updated:

How many times have you heard a co-worker say "I'm tired. I didn't sleep much last night."

All of us have heard that.!

But it's not something to be proud of. In fact the CDC says sleep deprivation is a public health epidemic.

So are you getting enough sleep?

FOX 5’s Sarah Simmons joined us with a quick sleep quiz!

TRUE OR FALSE:

Jet lag can happen at home? That's true! The American Academy of Sleep Medicine says when you have a constant sleep deficit, you feel as if you're jet lagged all the time.

It doesn't matter when you drop off, as long as you sleep seven to eight hours? False! Doctors say you really need to wake up at the same time every day, and go to bed eight hours before that.

Hitting the snooze button is a good way to get a few extra minutes of rest. False! Going back to sleep actually restarts the sleep cycle, making you feel worse during the day.
