Gotham City and its heroes and villains are coming to television in the FOX series "Gotham," a kind of "Batman" prequel a la "Smallville." But instead of the lead being a young Bruce Wayne, rookie detective Jim Gordon -- the man who will one day be commissioner -- will anchor the show.

FOX has ordered a series based on the much-buzzed-about pilot, which shows Ben McKenzie ("The O.C." and "Southland") as Gordon, an idealistic cop faced with a crumbing and corrupt society. He is paired with gruff veteran investigator Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue).

Younger versions of other longtime Batman universe characters will also appear in the series, including Selina Kyle (Catwoman), Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin), Edward Nigma (The Riddler).

Jada Pinkett-Smith stars as crime boss Fish Mooney.

A young Bruce Wayne will be part of the show.

Step through the doors of Hope's Land of Candy in Island Park, Long Island and you''ll be taking a trip back in time. There's no WIFI but they do have a Victrola piano. And then there's the candy.. lots and lots of it.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
