Saturday night, a candlelight vigil took place. We're told the victim, Andreas DeJesus (nicknamed "Noodles"), the father of a 2-year-old with a baby on the way, got into a fight with known gang members. A 25-year-old is accused of shooting him once in the chest. That suspect is in custody. Police are still investigating.

The shooting forced organizers to cancel the Cinco de Mayo parade, now in it's 50th year.

"A lot of organizing, a lot of time and effort goes into something like this," said Wayne County Commissioner Ilona Varga. "For two people to ruin it for the rest of the community is just unforgivable."

Drivers could still be seen cruising down Vernor waving Mexican flags. The suspect could be arraigned as early as Monday. Stay with Fox 2 and myfoxdetroit.com for updates on this developing story.
